Getting Queer

I’m back from Louisiana and have finally been able to catch up a bit. It’s great to come back to new members on the site, and it’s been exciting to hear from everyone who has filled out the form on the Participate page. Don’t worry if you’re not getting an individual response right now – I am getting your messages and am thrilled to get you all involved!

Here’s a little snippet from Mark, the newest Getting Queer participant, who I had the pleasure of meeting while down in LA.

“One of the guys asks me, he’s like, ‘Hey, Mark, are you queer?’  And I look at him.  And being the huge Roald Dahl fan that I am, I agree wholeheartedly that yes, I am the queerest person that he has ever met in his entire life. And that sealed the deal for the rest of my middle school years at that school.”

An adjustment to the last update:  I’ll be in New Orleans from December 8th – 10th (Wednesday thru Friday), and in Baton Rouge on December 11th (Saturday).  If you’re around either of these areas and would like to take part in Getting Queer, fill out the form on the Participate page a.s.a.p. and we’ll get connected!

No matter where you’re from, if you’re interested in being interviewed for Getting Queer, you should get in touch and fill out the form on the “Participate” page.  Even if we can’t get together in the near future, by filling out the form, I’ll have your info on file so I can let you know when I’ll be in your area.

If you’re around New Orleans and want to participate, get in touch sooner than later!  I’ll be available in the area and available to do interviews from December 8th – 11th (Wednesday thru Saturday).

Welcome to the brand spanking new website for Getting Queer!  What is it?  Well, I’m glad you asked.

Getting Queer is a collaborative project with people who currently identify or have identified as queer that aims to shed light on “queer” through photographs, recorded interviews, writing, and other media.

For now, this website will be used primarily to give updates and information about the project.  The interviews and photographs will be revealed later down the road.  Okay, after this one anyway.
